I hate to be a big ol’ spoiler, but I’m so gleeful I can hardly contain myself:
The Associated Press is reporting that the sixth – and final – season of The L Word will premiere with Jenny Schecter’s death.
Finally! An end to the character that so many lesbians have hated since the first episode
The Showtime drama about a circle of lesbian friends and lovers is pure soap opera, a over-acted, ramped-up production that has been obviously aimed at the lucrative young male demographic from the get-go.
But hey… it’s a show that features girls kissing girls, so we keep tuning in.
The episode, which airs Jan. 18, begins with a splash as Jenny’s body is discovered in a swimming pool.
Meanwhile, she won’t be absent from the show: The remainder of the season is heavy with flashbacks of Jenny (played by Mia Kirshner).
The best thing about The L Word is that it gave rise to a whole new descriptor in Lesbian Language… as in “She’s so L Word,” meaning under-fed, over-spent, over-the-top, hyper-femme, and excruciatingly self-conscious.
