“Housewife” Bares Breasts for Gay Marriage

kimx390Kim Zolciak, one of the drama queens of the second season of Bravo’s reality series The Real Housewives of Atlanta, is making waves again.

Waves of flesh and duct tape.

Zolciak has chosen to go topless to show her support for gay rights, as part of photographer Adam Bouska’s NO H8 campaign, a photo project and silent protest against California’s Prop. 8, which repealed same-sex marriage rights in the state.

Going a step further than previous celebrity participants in the campaign – which has included Kathy Griffin, Meghan McCain, and Shanna Moakler* – Zolciak is featured not only with duct tape across her mouth and “NO H8” scrawled across her cheek, but also with duct tape covering the nipples of her exposed breasts.

No stranger to “taking it all off,” the budding reality television star was reportedly a stripper at Atlanta’s Cheetah Lounge prior to landing on Housewives.

Zolciak is forging a career as a singer.  Her new single “Tardy for the Party,” produced by former Xscape member and current Housewife Kandi Burruss, was leaked last month.

*(Note: Shanna Moakler is a former Miss USA and the co-executive director of the Miss California USA pageant. She’s one of the people that Carrie “Opposite Sex” Prejean has named in her sour-grapes lawsuit.)

This Beauty Queen is Down on Hate

In a flip on the reigning Miss California USA’s stance, last year’s title holder, Racquel Beezely, is featured in a photo campaign that features hundreds of portraits of people with their mouths duct-taped in an expression of protest against Proposition 8, which banned gay marriage in California in Nov. 2008.

The 22-year-old Barstow native appears in the photograph alongside former Miss USA beauty queens, all in tiaras, in an effort to send a message supporting gay marriage in light of the recent controversy surrounding this year’s Miss California USA, Carrie Prejean, and her on-stage response opposing gay marriage.

“I absolutely respect her for her opinion and for standing up for herself,” said Beezley — who crowned Prejean as the new state winner this year — but says if given the same question, she would have answered much differently.

“I have many friends and supporters in the gay community who were hurt by the comments,” she told the Barstow Desert Dispatch.

The photo campaign, which includes actors, musicians and other public figures, is on display at the Hamilton-Selway Fine Art gallery in West Hollywood.
