Maira Kalman is an illustrator and author. She is also known for her work as a designer and artist. You can find her stuff on the cover the The New Yorker and in museum gift shops. She has written and illustrated a dozen kids books, and (near and dear to my heart) also illustrated an edition of Strunk & White’s Elements of Style, the handbook and style guide for writers everywhere – among many other projects.
Most recently, she wrote and drew a fantastic interview with Ruth Bader Ginsberg, the only woman on the United States Supreme Court. It’s sort of a graphic Op-Ed piece that is on the NY Times blog. Take a moment and check it out.
